Metabolic / Thyroid Archetype

Your engine runs cool. Let's relight the pilot.

The Slow Burn isn't lazy metabolism — it's an under-fueled thyroid and a stalled mitochondrial system. The good news: both respond fast to targeted nutrients.

You probably notice

The everyday signs.

  • Always cold — especially hands and feet
  • Stubborn weight that won't move on any diet
  • Thinning eyebrows or hair shedding
  • Constipation, dry skin, low libido
  • Energy improves briefly after eating, then crashes

Underneath, it's usually

The root pattern.

  • Low conversion of T4 to active T3 thyroid hormone
  • Selenium, iodine, or tyrosine deficiency
  • Chronic dieting suppressing thyroid output
  • Reverse T3 blocking the receptors (cellular hypothyroid)

The science

What's actually happening.

Your thyroid is the body's thermostat. It needs raw materials (iodine, tyrosine, selenium, zinc) to build hormone, and a calm enough system to convert it into the active form. Chronic stress, low-calorie dieting, and nutrient gaps all stall the process. Standard labs miss this — they only check the thermostat, not whether the heat is reaching the rooms.

Your starter stack

Built for the Slow Burn.

Each ingredient is chosen for what your archetype is actually short on — not the trending hashtag of the week.

Thyroid Synergy

Thyroid Synergy

Iodine, selenium, and zinc in one formula — the foundational cofactors your thyroid needs to build hormone and convert T4 to active T3.

L-Tyrosine

Daily rhythm

Do these.

  • Eat enough — chronic under-eating suppresses thyroid more than any food
  • Strength train 2–3x/week to rebuild metabolic tissue
  • Cold exposure (cool shower finish) — gently retrains thermogenesis
  • Iodine-containing foods 3x/week (seaweed, eggs, dairy)

Quiet sabotage

Stop these.

  • Long fasts (>16h) — they tank T3
  • Raw cruciferous in huge volumes
  • Soy isolate protein powders

I'd been told my labs were 'normal' for years. Six weeks on the right stack, I'm finally warm, and the scale moved for the first time in three years.

Common questions.

Can I retake the quiz later?+

Yes. Renu Membership ($9/month) lets you retake the quiz anytime — as often as you'd like — so you can recalibrate your stack as your biology shifts. Your first 7 days are free with any report purchase.

Should I get my thyroid tested first?+

Yes if you can. The full report includes the panel to ask for (TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, antibodies) — most doctors only run TSH.

Can I take this with thyroid medication?+

Yes, but spacing matters (4 hours from your dose). Your report has the schedule.

Will iodine make Hashimoto's worse?+

It can if you start too high. The protocol begins low and tracks symptoms — and your report flags when to skip iodine entirely.

Why is my TSH 'normal' if my metabolism is slow?+

TSH only measures the pituitary's signal, not whether active T3 is reaching your cells. Reverse T3, free T3, and antibodies fill in the missing picture — your report includes the full panel.

Can I lose weight before fixing my thyroid?+

Possible but it backfires. Aggressive dieting suppresses T3 further. Most Slow Burns lose weight more easily once the thyroid is supported for 6–8 weeks first.

Is intermittent fasting bad for the thyroid?+

Long fasts (>16h) and very low-calorie days lower T3 conversion. A gentle 12-hour overnight window is fine for most. The report includes fasting limits by sex and cycle phase.

Should I avoid goitrogens like broccoli and kale?+

No. Normal portions of cooked cruciferous are fine and beneficial. The 'goitrogen' warning applies to raw juicing volumes daily, not a side of broccoli.

Can men have a Slow Burn pattern?+

Yes. Male hypothyroid is under-diagnosed because the early signs (low libido, cold hands, low motivation) get blamed on age or stress. The stack works for any sex.

Is selenium safe long-term?+

Yes at 200 mcg/day from selenomethionine. The upper safe limit is 400 mcg. Avoid Brazil nuts on top of supplementation — they're potent enough to stack you into excess.

Will I feel hot or anxious if my thyroid wakes up?+

Most members feel warmer hands and steadier energy, not jittery. If anxiety rises, dosing is too aggressive — your report includes a step-down protocol.

Not sure this is you?

The 7-minute quiz will tell you for sure.

Reading symptoms is a start. The full assessment scores you across all 8 archetypes so you know which one is primary — and which is hiding underneath.
